Gladwish Wood
Gladwish Wood is said to be haunted by a fearsome phantom or grisly ghoul. A figure described as having "flesh decayed, hands clutching his throat" was sighted by a man seperated from his friends during a ghost hunt there. The account was written by the author and instigator of the hunt, R. Thurston Hopkins (1884-1958). Some have suggested that the gruesome figure is the apparition of David Leary, a labourer executed in a miscarriage of justice in 1825.

Burwash, archaically known as Burghersh, is a rural village in East Sussex, England.
The village is located 15 miles from Hastings, on the A265 road, and on the River Dudwell, a tributary of the River Rother.
